A Hungry Stomach Has No Ears

Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin' By World is a 12-16 week class of 7-12 individuals that meets over a meal and explores topics such as financial literacy, mindset, future planning and more! It is available to individuals living in poverty or chaotic situations and encourages steps toward self-sufficiency. We want to be sure individuals are not hungry and are able to focus on their future planning. We focus on this because as the African Proverb says, "A hungry stomach has no ears".

This program has been wildly successful. To date, we have graduated 45 individuals, many of whom indicated that this program did not only help them learn about finances, but it also saved their life.

Getting Ahead is highly focused on building our own resources as we explore our gifts and talents and then use them to improve the world around us. Of our 45 graduates, many have stayed involved in the program by enrolling in our aftercare "Staying Ahead" which meets monthly and offers opportunities for individuals to lead and mentor others just beginning the process. It truly all starts with a meal. Ensuring that individuals can focus on the basic information given in Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin' By World makes all the difference.
